SandboxPDF

Terms of use

Last updated: 20 September 2026. These terms describe the use of SandboxPDF and its educational guides. If you cannot accept them, do not use the service. Nothing here limits rights that cannot lawfully be excluded under applicable law.

The service

SandboxPDF provides browser-based tools for supported document operations and explanatory material about PDF workflows. The listed tools are free to use without creating an account. Availability, supported formats and performance may change as the application is maintained. Some features download additional engines or models and require a capable device, sufficient memory and a compatible browser.

Your files and permissions

You retain your rights in the documents you process. Using a tool does not transfer ownership of your files to SandboxPDF. You are responsible for having permission to process, modify and share the material, including any copyrighted content or personal information it contains. Do not use the tools to forge documents, misrepresent signatures, conceal unlawful activity or interfere with another person’s rights.

Only remove encryption or restrictions from documents you are authorised to modify. A visual signature is different from a certificate-based signature. Neither feature determines whether a particular signing process satisfies your legal or organisational requirements. Remote signing, identity verification, trusted timestamping and certificate-revocation checking are not provided by these tools.

Check outputs and keep originals

Keep a separate original and review each result before relying on or distributing it. Conversion may change fonts, layout, pagination, accessibility information, form behaviour, links or signatures. OCR can misread characters. Translation and summary tools can omit context or produce inaccurate interpretations. Document chat presents source passages that still need to be checked in context.

The guides and tools do not provide legal, financial, medical or other professional advice. Redaction output is not a legal certification, and a PDF/A conversion is not a guarantee of acceptance by an archive. Follow the receiving organisation’s requirements and obtain specialist review when the purpose requires it. Do not rely solely on a successful export message as evidence that a document meets those requirements.

Responsible use

Do not attempt to disrupt the website, bypass its operational protections, abuse the contact form, transmit malicious messages or gain unauthorised access to systems. Respect applicable laws and third-party rights. The site may limit or reject requests that threaten availability or security. Local file-size and page-count safeguards help protect the browser from excessive memory use; they are not a promise that every file within those limits will complete successfully.

Privacy and correspondence

The privacy policy explains local document processing and the separate handling of website requests and contact messages. Do not send confidential documents, passwords or private keys through the contact form. You are responsible for protecting your own device, original files, downloaded results and certificate material. The website cannot recover a lost PDF password or retrieve a document that was only processed locally.

Availability and responsibility

The service is offered as available. To the extent permitted by applicable law, it is provided without a guarantee of uninterrupted access, fitness for a particular purpose or error-free results. Any limitation of responsibility applies only where lawful and does not override mandatory consumer protections or liability that cannot be excluded. This wording is not intended to deprive users of non-waivable rights.

Third-party libraries, models and linked websites have their own licences or terms. Relevant software notices are supplied with the application. Links are provided for context and do not mean that those organisations endorse SandboxPDF. We may update these terms as the service changes; the current version and date will be published on this page.

Questions and corrections

Use Contact to report a service problem, ask about these terms or request a correction to a guide. Include enough detail to identify the issue without disclosing sensitive information. A factual report about an incorrect result helps improve the service, but it does not remove the need to independently verify documents used for important decisions.
